Founder, CEO, & Co-Owner
Jacob Shidler
Jacob is a second generation remodeler. Under the guidance of his father, Jacob learned everything in home renovation. From plumbing and electrical to finish carpentry, he has the skill set to solve almost any unforeseen obstacle. His vision is for the company to be a leader in sustainable building and a resource for every homeowner who wants to learn more about green construction. As the founder of Haywood, he hopes to see a shift in responsible building practices and ultimately a cleaner, greener environment.
COO & Co-Owner
Max O'Connell
Max became interested in remodeling at a young age watching and helping his father remodel the house. After graduating high school he traveled playing music but would come home to work with his brothers and cousins remodeling houses and being a general handy-man. He learned all the ins and outs of the trade in the process. He focuses on quality of workmanship as well as being reliable and personable. In his time off he enjoys woodworking, designing and building furniture, hanging out with his wife & two dogs.
Chief People Officer & Office Administrator
Alyssa O'Connell
Alyssa came into remodeling when her husband Max had the wild idea to buy & flip their first home; she has loved watching home transformations ever since. With a decade of experience in management, including most recently overseeing visitor operations at the Cincinnati Zoo, Alyssa believes clear, pro-active, and frequent communication is key to a successful home renovation. Away from Haywood, Alyssa works with her hands by gardening in the summer and knitting in the winter and wrangling with her wild son all year.
Project Manager
Joe O'Connell
Joe is a Cincinnati native, a voracious reader and book collector. He is a writer and actively studies history. He has written seven fiction books and aspires one day to write non-fiction as well. Joe worked in retail for many years, including two years as a technology installer and consultant. He joined Haywood to learn more about sustainability and specialized construction. He now is a general talent, working both on the worksite and behind the scenes coordinating administrative tasks.
Foreman
Jef O'Connell
Jef comes to Haywood with several years of previous experience as a subcontractor, 18 months as a traveling cell tower technician, and 4 years as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Marines. He has had a well-rounded experience as a contractor, but taking a particular liking to flooring, specifically tile work. In his personal life, Jef enjoys spending time with his wife, first child, and two dogs. He currently is remodeling their house built in 1904.

Who We Are
We prioritize sustainability and environmental practices equally with high quality craftsmanship to create a different kind of construction company. One that cares far beyond the end product: towards the future of the world we build upon.
Our team also has a passion for community partnership. We have quarterly projects, paying our employees to do work giving back to the environment and the community. We have a lot of fun whether we're remodeling a home or wading through the Ohio River fishing out tires and other garbage for proper disposal or clearing brush in a city park or preparing food.
